A very attractive British Officer’s sword with some wonderful Rev.War history.  The grip is ivory and the furniture is all polished steel,a very rare feature. The blade is gold etched in military motif’s including a Crown over GR and the 1st Regt. Guards (Grenadier Guards ) and retains a nice bluish-brown patina.  The 1st Regt.  Guards arrived in New York in July of 1776 and were captured and interned at Yorktown in 1781.  They were involved in many battles while here to include the Battles of Long Island; Paulus Hook ,N..J ; and Savannah. The sword shows evidence of battle usage on it’s blade exhibiting several nicks.  A very historic Rev War. sword.
