This is a wonderful example of a early 18th century New York Hudson Valley Fowler. The gun exhibits â€‹much of the old country Dutch workmanship that was prevalent at the time. The 53 3/4" barrel is British proofed and .72 cal. The overall length of the gun is 70"with a beautiful aged patina. The Curly Maple stock has a pleasing combination of both incised and rococo carving in the flowing leaf pattern. Appromately 2' of the forend has a wood repair which was done with matching aged curly maple and is nearly imperceptible. Raised carved paddles accentuate the lock as well as the sideplate. On the left butt stock you can still make out the owners initials TMOS.  These rare guns are seldom seen for sale these days . This is a lot of gun so I've taken a lot of pctures.
