This is a really beautiful rifle.  The .60 cal. rifled barrel is 28" long and is signed Jacob Kuchenreuter 1795 . The date obviously was added later as it is a much earlier rifle. It is silver inlaid and has the Kuchenreuter Gold cartouched Knight on Horseback over I.K.  Also has a long range flip up rear sight that was added during it's period of use. The barrel is slightly swamped at the muzzle. The forestock has been spliced a couple of times over the years but whoever did the work was a pro.  This rifle exhibits some really beautiful carving and has a wonderful patina over all.  The wrist escutcheon had something inscribed on it  but is to light now to make out. A real piece of the finest 18th century workmanship.
