A really good looking knife carried by a brave and heroic Texas soldier. The knife is engraved "Valerius C. Giles -Texas- Robertson Brigade" and "C .S. A" on the obverse.  Sgt. Giles served in Robertson's brigade of the 4th Texas Inf. Please refer to the picture of the cover sheet for his interesting service history. He also chronicled his Civil War history and that of the 4th Texas in a book titled "Rags and Hope" which will come with the Knife. Along with the book is a photo locket containing photo's of two men. The gentlmen on the right appears to be Sgt. Giles as he resembles the picture of him on the book cover.  This is a really elegant knife with a clip point blade of 8"  and beautiful engraving.  It still retains it's original scabbard which has had it's end peened and riveted.  Feels really good in your hand and is perfectly balanced.  A wonderful looking piece of Texas history .
