LeMat 2nd Mdl. w/knife and orig.holster
This neat outfit was just found in a garage with a false wall in a home in Charleston, W.Virginia. The signed letter by the man who is the agent for the estate states that "LeMat revolver serial number 1435 was found in a false wall in a garage in South Charleston, West, Virginia by the grandchildren of a deceased gentleman. The revolver was found with it's holster and the kniife that is shown with it. The man in question was 96 years of age when he passed several years ago.  It was not known that he had this collection by his grandchildren until they were remodeling the house etc.  Copy of letter will come with the outfit.  The LeMat has all matching visible serial numbers and still cycles although a little slowly. Could probably use a good cleaning but I like to leave items the way I find them. The rammer was removed in it's perod of use which was quite common on the Confederate used pistols as the rammer would often jump out of it's cradle and jam in the cylinder prohibiting it's rotation.  The grips were also changed in it's period of use and have a wonderful worn patina.  The holster is as rare if not rarer then the pistol and is obviously original to the pistol. The last one of these holsters I saw for sale was about 15 years ago and it brought $4500.  I don't know anything about the knife but it was found with the pistol and is quite lethal.  Also, the hammer tip still drops down properly in order to fire the shotgun barrel.  A wonderful Confederate outfit new to the collecting fraternity.
