Rev War- Hudson Valley Fowler
Rev War- Hudson Valley Fowler

This is a very attractive looking  Hudson Valley Fowler.  The stock is curly maple with a wonderful deep patina. The overall length is 67" with a 50 1/2" barrel.  The period wrist repair really adds to the overall  look. The forestock has had some repair and replaced wood which blends nicely.  The lock pan has been replaced but the touchole looks original . I'm pricing the gun as a recoversion but it may be original flint.  The butt stock comb has been shaved in it's period of use to facilitate aiming.  This is something you see on some Rev.War  American muskets especially militia used arms as Americans grew up aiming their firearms as opposed to the European way of point and fire in a volley. The front sight has a tear drop  base. The stock carving is typical Hudson Valley with the added feature of some really nice engraving on the brass furniture.  The Hudson Valley in upstate New York saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the War (Drums along the Mohawk} . A beautiful and rare piece seldom seen for sale anymore.
