French Pocket pistol conversion
French Pocket pistol conversion

A very high grade pistol with many wonderful embellishments. To include a gold etched Panoply of Arms on it's 3" barrel, silver wire inlays and rococo carving on it's stock. The barrel still retains some of it's original blue finish .  The best is the unique safety that was installed at the time of the pistols conversion from flintlock to the percussion system. When the pistol is cocked it will not fire without the screw-lever by the side plate being  depressed. This was done in order to protect from an accidental discharge (snapping a cap)  when the pistol was put in a pocket . This would not have been a problem with a flintlock but certainly could be with the new  percussion system.  I've tried to capture it's operation  with pictures but really need a movie . All I can say is in 40 years of collecting firearms I've never seen anything like it. It's really neat!
