This is a good looking Civil War Colt with a Factory Inscription. The pistol was mfg. in 1853 was Lt. Armington’s personal sidearm throughout the war. The edges ,stampings and cylinder scene are all very sharp and crisp. All the serial numbers match. The frame and loading lever retain alot of there early mousey case colors under a nice patina. The barrel retains about 30% blue . The backstrap and trigger guard retain 100% of their original nickle finish. The grips have about 95% of their original finish. Lt. Armington saw action at some of the major Civil War battles to include Gettysburg, Chancellorville, and Brandy Station. Factory inscribed Civil War Colts are rare and doubly rare if inscribed to an Officer who saw major action such as Lt. Armington.
