This is a very early Lancaster Kentucky Rifle.  It has all the early features that Jacob Dickert  was known to have used such as a wedge held stock instead of pins( he switched to pins after the Rev. War.) also the stock is very plain with no carvings and a wide buttstock.  The cheek piece is adorned with only a simple "Man in the Moon" silver inlay.  His later work is all heavily & ornately carved on the stocks. Drepperd made locks for Dickert in the pre Rev. War period. The really interesting thing about this rifle is that when it was converted to percussion years later it was Drepperd’s son Henry who did the conversion as it’s his unique hammer on the lock. The Rifle has a 44 1/2" octagon barrel in .50 cal. . The curly maple stock has a great color and patina.  A really good looking Kentucky by great maker. Sold
