This is a really great rarity in arms collecting.  It's a 18th century dated and identified Tomahawk. The owner was Thomas Hill  who was a Rev.War soldier and Indian Fighter from North Carolina.  He served under Col. James Martin.  All the battles that he participated in were Indian Battles including the burning of a Cherokee village in which he was wounded. The only battle he fought directly against British soldiers was the Battle of Guilford.  This Indian fighting that he learned during the War would serve him well when he and his family moved to Georgia and then after 3 years to Tennessee.  Memoirs written by his son talk about his mothers constant fear of Indian attacks and negro uprisings. This Hawk will come with a very thich folder on Thomas Hill.
The Tomahawk is all original with the proper wood stinkage to where it attaches to the head and by the silver wedding design in the middle. The leather gasket that held the head tight is long rotted away. The 7 1/4" head is signed "T. Hill -1797". This great Hawk has been in my collection for years.
